Item Description

Garnet comes in every color of the rainbow, including blue. Some of the best orange Garnets in the world are those from the Nigerian gem fields. Going back to the early 2000s, have these new Spessartine Garnet gems hit the market and they are some of the most sought after Garnets out there. When they were first discovered, they immediately were recognized as being some of the best orange color Garnet extant, and it seems that the deposit was mined out almost as fast as it was discovered! It seems as though this material has really dried up in recent years, and very little is available on the market, so don't miss out. This stone is a superb quality, saturated, glowing orange color gem with a "brilliant oval" cut.  There are some inclusions, but they do not detract from the intense color.   This strong orange hue is due to a high concentration of manganese and has very little iron content, which is why the stone is so orange and not red. This gem could be called what is being marketed as "Mandarin Garnet", because of the wonderful orange color. This color is nearly exclusive to these Garnet gems and that is why it has become so popular and in some cases very pricey. This is the kind of stone that would look fantastic set into jewelry, so if you know anybody with a January birthday (Garnet is the birthstone for January), this would be an excellent piece to create the perfect pendant or ring. Priced at $3,932.00 retail.
