Item Description

These gorgeous specimens are some of the most attractive and highly displayable pieces to come out of any discovery in China. This wonderful cabinet sized specimen has dozens of sharp, gemmy, lustrous, bright orange color trapezohedral crystals of Spessartine Garnet measuring up to 3 mm which are sitting along the prism faces of a single, sharp, GEMMY, prismatic, hexagonal Smoky Quartz crystal with a bit of associated cream colored Microcline. The piece is in excellent condition, there is a tiny nick on the termination of the Smoky, but I can't find any major damage anywhere. I love the fact that the Garnets are brilliant, sharp and smooth - no pitting or dull faces anywhere. Garnet is a well known mineral, but you have to keep in mind that it's quite rare to find brilliant orange Spessartines from any locality in the world, let alone on good sized Quartz crystals like this. Valued at $900.
