Item Description

A very rare and showy combination specimen from Broken Hill and the Dave Bristol Collection. Classic, highly lustrous, partially gemmy, deep wine-red spessartine garnet dodecahedrons to 2.2 cm are nicely scattered in the mounded matrix of crystallized galena. A rare and seldom-seen accessory species is the brilliant-metallic, 1.7 cm, platy pyrrhotite crystal. A bit of bruising is noted to the large spessartine, but this is typical of the material which is physically removed from the overlaying galena of this unusual association, by hand tools and careful work. It is today, a rare and excellent combination example of the species from this renowned locale. Valued $500
