A rich, striking and excellent combination plate from recent finds at Tongbei. The sculptural trident-like quality of the clustered smokies partially sheathed in spessartines adds drama and panache to this showy piece. The glassy light smokies are classically complimented by the gemmy and lustrous, cinnamon-orange, spessartines with an earlier generation of smaller golden-yellow spessartines. The 4 major smokies are pristine. A broken smoky is noted on the edge, but is a minimal detraction to this fine combination piece.
