Item Description

These Spessartines are some of the most attractive and highly displayable specimens to come out of any Chinese locality. What makes them so special is the brilliant color and high luster of the crystals, which isn't as common for Spessartine (especially orange ones) as you might think. This particular piece features dozens of lustrous, gemmy, rich orange crystals measuring up to 4 mm associated with Smoky Quartz crystals on white Microcline matrix. The Spessartines have a combination of trapezohedral and dodecahedral faces. The color in the Spessartines is very attractive, and they are not at all dull or pitted. A really attractive piece of this material which is becoming less and less available on the market. Keep in mind that there are only a few worldwide localities that produce this color of Spessartine in fine specimens. Gem orange Spessartine specimens are NOT easy to find these days from any locality. Priced at $600 in the inventory. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
