Item Description

These Spessartines are some of the most attractive and highly displayable specimens to come out of China. This particular piece features dozens of lustrous, gemmy, rich orange trapezohedrons measuring up to 7 mm which are overgrowing a 5.0 cm, fine quality, sharp, lustrous, DOUBLY-TERMINATED Smoky Quartz crystal that is literally piercing through the center of the Microcline matrix! I've never seen a Smoky Quartz like this from Wushan, and I've literally seen thousands of specimens from this locality. Very little damage, and so showy! The fact that the Smoky is doubly-terminated is rare in my experience with this material, but the fact that it's just completely grown through the matrix is remarkable. The color in the Spessartine crystals is very attractive, and they are not at all dull or pitted. If you look closely though, some of the Spessartines have odd little cavities or "holes" where presumably another species once grew and was dissolved away. A really unusual piece of this material which is becoming less and less available on the market. Keep in mind that there are only a few worldwide localities that produce this color of Spessartine in fine specimens. Gem orange Spessartine specimens are NOT easy to find these days from any locality, and a piece like this might be a one-of-a-kind. Priced at $1,800 simply for its uniqueness and beauty.
