Item Description

Here we have a very attractive and fine quality, display specimen of Sphalerite from Naica featuring a predominant, sharp, rather lustrous, well-formed, jet-black colored, "Spinel"-twinned crystal measuring 4.0 cm, associated with smaller Sphalerites along with a gemmy green octahedron of Fluorite and minor Quartz, free of matrix. Minor Galena and Pyrite are visible on the back of the piece. The Sphalerite twin shows a bit of skeletal surface growth, which is not commonly seen from this locality. No major damage that I can see on the display side of the piece, but it is contacted on the back where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. A very good quality and highly displayable specimen of this old (probably mined circa 1970s) material from this famous locality.
