Item Description

Sphalerite specimens from the Bliesenbach Mine are RARE on the market, and the few I've seen have been very dark in color and virtually opaque. This piece is without a doubt the finest example of Sphalerite that I've seen from this mine. The display side is loaded with very sharp, rather lustrous, GEMMY, gorgeous glowing golden-green crystals measuring up to 1.1 cm. VERY little damage and incredibly showy not only for the locality, but the species in general. A superlative example of the material, and MORE than worthwhile to add to a sulfide collection, a suite of Sphalerites or a German collection. Valued at $1800 for the size, color, gemminess and overall quality. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4775). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
