Item Description

A very rich and showy, large 3-dimensional mounded combination specimen from the historic mines at Trepca. The undulating surface is covered with lustrous, jet-black, twinned sphalerite crystals, to 2.3 cm, and is dramatically festooned with striking contrasting sprays of glassy quartz points. The well-placed doubly terminated quartz in the center is 2.0 cm. Sharp, brassy pyritohedrons are a nice accent on the partially contacted back. Classic, rich and highly representative combination material of the species and locale from the Paul Zerfass Collection # 404.
