Sphalerite with Calcite and Galena

Unusual and fascinating triangular form on this very fine and showy 360-degree small cabinet sphalerite combination from one of the mines at renowned Dalnegorsk. Highly lustrous, olive-green to black, parallel-growth plates of Sphalerite form the striking triangular specimen. The sharp, lightly iridescent sphalerite triangles at the crest are marvelous. One side is dramatically accented with a 2.6 x 2.4 cm brilliant luster, metallic-gray, stepped-growth Galena cube. Scattered flattened, colorless Calcite rhombohedrons, to 1.5 cm, and clusters of tan Siderite botryoids are fine complements and contrasts. The attachment on the bottom even hosts a cluster of Quartz points. Essentially pristine, with only trivial scuffing to the edge of the large calcite rhomb. Complete all-around, part of the attachment is also adjacent to the galena cube. Light pink calcite LW UV fluorescence. The piece displays very well without aid. The famous mines at Dalnegorsk are well-known for world-class sulfide specimens and this is an outstanding and sculptural sphalerite combination example. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock.
