Item Description

A plate of splendent dark reddish-black Sphalerite crystals play host to minor, gemmy, pale golden color Calcite crystals. The largest Sphalerite measures 1.3 cm across. This is an classic and fine combination specimen. from this ancient Pb-Zn mining district worked until 1954. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2789). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
