Item Description

An old classic of all USA minerals, this hails from the famous Tri State District in the area where Oklahoma meets Missouri and Kansas. Lead and zinc mining lasted for over 100 years, 1851 until 1967 - and lead mining here was highly important for the USA, for development of our cities. Most specimens were obviously destroyed in the case for ore. This is a classic mid-to early 1900s specimen showing sharp, machined looking, oriented growths of chalcopyrite upon sphalerite crystals to 2 cm. Sharp, gorgeous, complete all around - and a classic! The larger clusters are 2.5 to 3 cm tip to tip. This is a superb example of this material!
