Item Description

A fine, translucent to transparent, gem crystal of spinel measuring 1.1 cm, aesthetically perched on marble matrix. This is a classic example of Burmese spinels with gorgeous red color and is now harder to obtain since the US embargo on this country. An old specimen, bought by a collector friend direct from the source dealer in Germany about 5 years ago, this is hard to replace today; and prices on good matrix specimens with crystals above 5mm or so, have gone up. The color of these Burma spinels is truly stunning, and beautiful in any case as set against its stark matrix.
