Spodumene (heavily etched ''floater'' crystal) with Smoky Quartz

There are a good number of localities in Afghanistan that have yielded some of the best gem quality and superbly well-crystallized examples of Spodumene ever found. People typically associated Kunzite with Afghanistan, but there are multiple shades of Spodumene that have been found in. This piece is a fantastic, highly sculptural beautiful, doubly-terminated (multi-terminated) soft greenish-yellow Spodumene crystal, with no point of attachment, making it a complete "floater". The crystal has fairly good luster all around (with very little in the way of "dusty" faces) and incredibly dramatic hydrothermal etching which gives it an almost ethereal appearance. I can't find any damage, and it's even gemmy in areas when backlit. Additionally, there are a few small Smoky Quartz crystal fragments which are actually INSIDE the Spodumene (perhaps they were deposited after the Spodumene was already etched). You'll never see another one exactly like this piece as the etching makes the piece so unique. Specimen weight is 89.4 grams. Valued $950.
