Item Description

Calcite and hyalite opal are EXTREMELY RARE from this obscure skarn deposit mine, noted for fine mimetite specimens. This is a dramatic and sculptural calcite cave specimen, that looks like coral! The stalactitic stalks of the tan oxide-tinted calcite have both striking bulbous tips and spike-like terminations. A surreal 360-degree specimen. A REAL surprise is the neon-green coating of Hyalite Opal that shows up under SW UV light! Trivial basal periphery wear on the front and a broken out-of-sight stalk on the back are noted, but have no impact to this high quality of this rarity. Outstanding older material from the 1960s or 70s, with a Burminco label. Ex J.G Dixon and Tom Wolfe Calcite Collections.
