Stannite on Fluorite (superb TN)

Item Description

Excellent, and really quite darling, thumbnail in which a 9 mm rosette of Stannite sits on the corner of a Fluorite crystal, from the famous Yaogangxian Mine of China. The metallic, lustrous, bronze-colored Stannite, a rare sulfide of copper, iron and tin, is combined with a classic and gemmy near-complete Fluorite. The edge zoning, purple-blue color tells you immediately that it is from Yaogangxian. The aesthetics are quite good, and the placement of the Stannite is so utterly perfect, like a corsage on the fluorite. Formerly in the extensive collection of W & A Cook.
