Item Description

Some of the finest crystallized specimens of Stannite in the world have come from this mine. Sadly, very little of that material is out on the market now and it's a shame because they were rather limited to begin with. This is certainly one of the most aesthetic examples of this material that we've had to offer. The pieces features a few very good quality, highly lustrous, sharp, intergrown crystal groups of Stannite (the largest measuring 1.8 cm across) which are sitting along the prism faces of a gemmy, white / colorless, lustrous Quartz prism. One edge of the Quartz is coated by a layer of Quartz with little gemmy purple Fluorite cubes and sharp pseudo-octahedral crystals of smoky-purple colored Scheelite! There is no damage that can be seen from the the front / display side (first photo), but the Quartz does have a small nick on the termination, and the back / bottom edge is contacted where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. Still it's a very good quality and eye-catching specimen of this superb material from this premier locality. Priced at $1,200 in the inventory. Ex Dr. Stephen Smale Collection.
