Item Description

Choice set of Staurolite crystals, in mica schist, from the Keivy Mountains in Russia. This small cab has both a classic penetration twin and a single crystal, and to find both together makes for an unusual and aesthetic specimen. The twins go through the entire specimen, so can be seen clearly from both sides. The largest of the crystals is 4.7 cm, with all the crystals having good luster and, in some cases, the added shimmer of Muscovite. This fine, highly representative piece was #11,878 in Kay's collection, and was acquired in 1989.
