Item Description

Stunning diverging 3-dimensional sprays of brilliant metallic-gray stibnite lathes and needles are dramatically set on the thin matrix crust on this exceptional and aesthetic small cabinet from the historic Baia Sprie Mine. The striking splendent crystals reach about 8.8 cm long. Formerly in the collection of Dr. Ed David, science advisor to President Nixon. We bought his second collection when he was in his 80's, in 2005, and sold this at the time - it still has his unique catalog number on the bottom. Valued at $3350 and well worth it. This price is from the 1980s or early 1990s era of mining here, we believe. It was then in a fabulous collection until we bought it, sold it, and got it back again recently. This is a major matrix example of this material! Valued $3000-5000.
