Item Description

This locality in northern Romania actually dates back to the time of the Romans, and is one of the more significant European localities for Stibnite. This piece is a very showy classic Romanian Stibnite specimen featuring beautiful metallic "sprays" of thin, prismatic, black-grey color crystals which are bursting out to create this beautiful display piece. The largest crystal measures 2.3 cm. This specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The piece comes with one of Wulff's famous 3x5 index cards that states the specimen was acquired from Pardo's Rocks & Minerals in Tucson, Arizona.
