Item Description

There is no doubt among serious collectors that this pocket in 2003 was the single finest pocket of stibnite for collectors, with remarkably aesthetic specimens such as this pulled out in pristine condition and without repairs. This pocket had a style all its own, with metallic luster and sharp, forged-looking terminations of the finest quality. Some specimens, such as this, were among the most elegant and aesthetic examples of stibnite the world had seen for overall perfection and beauty. The combination of geometry, brightness, and quality still is unbeaten today, nearly 20 years later. The story of this remarkable find is complicated and amazing, but suffice it to say that the pocket was actually sold twice as a whole, and ended up in New York with one dealer at the time, Daniel Trinchillo of FMI. As a friend favor to Fran, he let him select something great in his ideal size range right at the start of the offering of this material in 2004-2005, and gave him a deal with time to pay it. At the time even when they came out this was considered a special piece, valued as a $15,000 specimen even back then - and in our opinion it is worth easily at least twice that, today. It is spectacular all around, 360 degrees! It is the right size for so many collectors, for significance and impact. Today, you can find many examples from this pocket of smaller size and great aesthetics, and of bigger size without such beauty - but something in this ideal middle size, which is large for most of us, is simply not on the market anymore. Fran always considered this one of his best pieces. NOTE: HAND DELIVERY ONLY. We will work with the winner to arrange for hand delivery or pallet delivery in some way, given flexibility of time.
