Item Description

The White Caps Mine of Nevada is well-known as the source of the finest stibnite found in North America. This very fine and sturdy jackstraw cluster, with just a bit of calcite matrix on one side, features brilliant to matte-finish crystals to 3.0 cm. Specimens of this size, richness and quality are rarely available and are highly desired. The mine produced intermittently from 1865 to about 1958. Periphery wear is noted, but is of minor consequence to this rare and rich two-sided specimen. Ex Josef Vajdak Collection. His label says "TOTALLY IRREPLACEABLE!" Valued at $500-600.
