Item Description

A wonderful big showy display piece of Stilbite from the famed Berufjord in eastern Iceland. This area is well-known for its wonderful zeolite specimens, which are classics dating back many decades. This piece was found in the famed Teigarhorn, which mindat.org refers to as, "One of the most famous zeolite locality {localities} in Iceland." Unfortunately, this entire area is off-limits for collecting, as it was declared a national monument in 1976, so it's been nearly 50 years since anything has been found there. This piece features many fine quality, beautiful, bright white color, pearly groups of "sheaf"-like crystals of Stilbite-Ca, one of which is doubly-termianted, forming a beautiful "bow tie"-shaped aggregate measuring up to 5.2 cm, sitting on minor matrix No major damage and complete all around. A very aesthetic and showy near full cabinet sized piece. If you collect zeolites, you have to have a good example of this material in your collection. This specimen comes from the collection of Steven Phillips (label included), along with a typed label from an unknown collection, plus an inventoy label from Brian Kosnar - Mineral Classics. Valued at $950.
