Item Description

While St. Andreasberg is famous for its silver minerals, there are many other species found in the area, including several zeolite species. This is one of the finest examples of Stilbite-Ca that we've had to offer from the locality. Dozens of beautiful silvery-grey colored bladed measuring up to 9 mm cover the entire display side of this small cabinet specimen. The Stilbites are actually somewhat translucent when you view up them up close, and there are little white Calcite crystals sprinkled about for a nice touch. These are rare, especially in this quality and size in today's market, so if you're a fan of worldwide zeolites or minerals from St Andreasberg, this is a great opportunity to pick up a beautiful and showy display specimen of this hard to find material.
From the collection of George Elling, a prominent East Coast collector, with a label from the New York State Museum stating it was donated by Erastus Corning which oddly refers to the crystals as being twinned, which does not occur in Stilbite to the best of my knowledge.
