Strengite with Kidwellite, et al. (ex Al Kidwell Collection)

A great piece from the Three Oaks Gap locality in Arkansas featuring SIX different mineral species. Although the main species on the piece is Strengite, it's important to note that the piece also features Kidwellite, the mineral named after Al Kidwell, and this piece comes directly from Al's collection! It's quite rare to have a specimen of a mineral named after an individual, who happened to own that particular specimen. This piece features beautiful semi-radial groups of lilac colored Strengite sitting on dark reddish-brown Eleonorite (previously labeled as Beraunite, but it turns out that nobody can find a confirmed piece of Beraunite from Three Oaks Gap). If you look underneath, you'll see a mixture of beautiful olive green, velvety Kidwellite along with yellow-brown colored Cacoxenite plus dark greenish-black Dufrenite and minor Goethite/Limonite. A wonderful and fine quality example of this wonderful old material that was mined in 1980s. A must have for any fan of worldwide phosphates ore minerals from Arkansas. As mentioned, this piece is from the worldwide mineral collection of Albert Lewis Kidwell (January 1, 1919 - August 16, 2008). Al was a well-known mineral collector and research geologist with Carter Oil Company and later Exxon Oil Company in Houston, Texas.
