Sugilite is a rare lithium silicate and this showy piece is nearly solid sugilite, which is very uncommon. Vibrant purple sugilite crystals to 6 mm and crudely crystallized massive sugilite comprise nearly all of this excellent specimen from the famous Wessels Mine of South Africa. This sugilite varietal is very desirable and hard to obtain today.
