Item Description

An exceptionally fine and sculptural sulfur combination from Agrigento and the Kay Robertson Collection # 6216. Fabulous gemmy and lustrous, sharp, orange-yellow tiered sulfur crystals look like surreal cogs on a machine. The layered crystals are dramatically set on the mounded sculptural matrix of spiky calcite crystals, that have replaced large blocky pseudohexagonal aragonite crystals. Bright pink fluorescence. It was acquired as a gift in 1970. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). An oustanding combination sulfur.
