One of the most exceptional things I have seen from the United States is Sunstone from Oregon. This material comes in a myriad of colors ranging from yellow, orange, red, green and even blue in rare cases. Aside from the the extremely rare blue variety, the most hard to find color of this material in good size stones is red. This stone has a nice "champange" colors which is the most common shade for this material. It is a nice quality gem with a "Quantum Cushion" cut. Typically, many of the stones from this area have what is called a "shiller" which is a shimmer in the stone. This stone is actually very gemmy and looks very attractive in any kind of light.
