Sunstone (cut by Allyce Kosnar)

One of the most exceptional things I have seen from the United States is Sunstone from Oregon. This material comes in a myriad of colors ranging from yellow, orange, red, green and even blue in rare cases. Aside from the the extremely rare blue variety, the most hard to find color of this material in good size stones is red. This stone has a brilliant, coppery hue and really sparkles in the light. It is a good quality, "Hexagon Brilliant" cut gem. Typically, many of the stones from this area have what is called a "shiller" which is a shimmer in the stone, and is highly sought after by collectors. This stone does have a good amount of "shiller" which shows up well in person. This gem was cutt by Allyce Kosnar in October of 2010. This material is becoming very difficult to find anymore in any size or quantity, so don't miss out on this one. The high end retail value on this gem is 522.
