Superb Mendipite (Type Locality) w/ Calcite (fluorescent)

Item Description

Mendipite is a rare Pb-oxyhalide and this superb and rich combination is from the Type Locality Mendip Hills. A 3.9 cm cluster of pearlecent snow-white llaminar plates is surrounded by massive gray calcite in a sculptural vug in the banded iron ore matrix. The banding and colors on the back add real charcter to this fine piece. This is a remarkably rich and rare combination example of the species and noted locale. The calcite fluoresces orange-pink.
