Item Description

Svabite is a rare Ca-arsenate with a halogen (F) and is a member of the Apatite Group. Specimens are rare, worldwide, with most coming from Sweden near or at the Type Locality. This rich granular specimen if from the famous Langban area, near the Type Locality at the Jakobsberg Mine. Langban is one of the most mineral-rich localites in the world and has a long mining history, from 1711 to 1972 (MINDAT). Rich orange fluorescence. Not pretty to look at, but is a rich and highly representative example of the renowned locality and rare species. Ex Josef Vajdak Collection, a noted rarities collector. Seldom on the market and undoubtedly an older specimen.
