Item Description
A SPECTACULAR, 2.7 cm, dendritic aggregate of flattened sylvanite crystals aesthetically set on contrasting calcite. This old-timer, certainly dating to the 19th Century, is from one of the historic, gold-mining districts of Romania and is probably from the Type Locality for sylvanite - Offenbanya. "Transylvania" was considered to be part of Alba County in the old days. The old paper label also identifies hessite on the piece, but we cannot be sure. Certainly, one of the more aesthetic sylvanites you will see. Ex Mullane Collection.
