Item Description

Minerial specimens are uncommon from this old German potash mine and well-crystallized sylvite specimens are rare. This aesthetic miniature cluster of transparent, light golden-orange to colorless prisms with waxy luster is dominated by the striking large crystal with the sharp pyramidal termination and accented by the smaller crystals with blocky terminations. The large crystal is also slightly bent, adding even more character. This a sensitive mineral in terms of moisture, and it could dissolve in a moist environment, so it must be protected and kept dry. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 8806 and acquired from John Metteer in August, 1979. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). A fascinating, rare and pristine 360-degree sylvite from this German locale.
