Item Description

Symplesite, a rare phosphate, is VERY RARE from the renowned Schneeberg District, the Type Locality for Erythrite, another more common phosphate. The red arrow points toward a 5 mm textbook radial spray of lustrous green symplesite needles. The spray is nicely set in a 2.8 cm vug filled with lustrous, magenta erythrite plates. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 11888 and acquired from the Cisneros' at Tucson in 1989. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017). VERY RARE and classic old-time combination phosphate material from renowned Schneeberg, probably dating to the 1800s.
