Item Description

Tadzhikite-(Ce) is an extremely rare Ce-borosilicate. Tadzhikite-(Y) is a misnomer for tadzhikite-(Ce), since Ce is the dominant REE, not Y (Oberti et al., 2002)(MINDAT). This Italian rarity forms in miarolitic cavities in thermometamorphic ejecta from a pyroclastic formation of the Vico volcanic complex. The host rock is high in sanidine, plagioclase, clinopyroxene, clinoamphibole, magnetite, and biotite (MINDAT). The two white arrows point toward tiny brown crystals of the species. Ex Josef Vajdak Collection. RARE and rarely on the market.
