Item Description

Tektites are a natural glass formed from a meteorite impact melting the local rock. Moldavites are named after the main occurrence at the Moldau river in Southern Bohemia and originated due to the impact of a meteorite in Bavaria 15 MM years ago. This is a very fine, sculptural, floater, gem-quality, deeply furrowed, pretty apple-green moldavite tektite. Mass is 34.92 carats or nearly 7 grams. Ex Ed Swoboda Collection.
