Item Description

Well-crystallized tennantite specimens are rare from the famous mines at Butte. Sharp to euhedral, earthy-gray single crystals to about 1.0 cm and compound crystals to 1.7 cm are richly and attractively piled up on the quartz crystal matrix plate. This very fine older specimen is from the well-known Mountain Con Mine, the deepest mine at Butte at 5380 feet and the very last underground mine to produce ore up to its closing in 1975. Ex Robert Jenkins Collection, a noted Butte specialist; and later the Robert Whitmore Collection. Valued at $500-650.
