Item Description

These specimens came out in the 1970s, and are virtually impossible to find on the market now. Many people probably don't know that they are truly some of the best quality crystallized Tennantites from any locality in North American or the Western Hemisphere for that matter. This attractive three-dimensional cabinet specimen hosts many sharp, lustrous, well-formed, metallic, silvery grey colored modified (trapezohedron / dodecahedron) crystals of Tennantite measuring up to 1.2 cm cross which are associated with smaller Tennantites on beautifully contrasting white Quartz matrix. The piece is crystallized on all sides, and with the exception of the periphery where it was removed from the pocket, it's in wonderful condition. There are some Chalcopyrite crystals on the specimen as well which have a Tennantite coating, but you can see their brassy interior which is exposed in a few places. A little bit of a brownish Sphalerite makes for a final touch to the sulfide associations. If you never picked up one of these beauties back in the day, don't miss out on this one as they are virtually non-existent on the market. Valued at $1,500 in the inventory. A great eye-catching old classic from this prolific copper deposit.
