Item Description

Here we have a beautiful and sculptura group of Tennantite pseudomorphs after sharp Azurite blades from Tsumeb. If you look closely you'll see small areas of mint green Malachite on the surface and the piece is nicely accented with small pearly curved rhombs of white Dolomite along with scintillating gemmy yellow Mimetite "needles" and a lone tabular pastel yellow Wulfenite crystal! A very rare, unusual and showy Tsumeb pseudomorph with great associations. It's not common to have a copper sulfide replacing a copper secondary ore mineral like this, as sulfides are typically deposited first, and then minerals like Azurite and Malachite form afterwards. With the price of Tsumeb specimens rising daily it seems, this is a great opportunity to snag a classic specimen from what is considered by most people to be the most prolific mineral locality in the world. Priced at $950 in the inventory. This piece comes from the collection of Colorado mining legend, Dave Bergman. Dave is now retired from mining, but spent many years underground, including as the foreman and primary person in charge of recovering specimens at the famous Sweet Home Mine near Alma, Colorado during the late 1970s. He is also the maternal grandfather of Brian Kosnar. See Dave's photo mining at the Sweet Home on page 58 of Peter Bancroft's book "Gem and Crystal Treasures".
