Item Description

The Somma-Vesuvius Complex in Italy is actually the TYPE LOCALITY for Tenorite, and this piece is a great example of the classic material. Small, semi-bladed, almost "feather"-like crystals of grey-black metallic Tenorite are sprinkled all over the volcanic rock matrix. Beautiful material under the microscope and these specimens are very hard to find on the market today. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#10420). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A beautiful and attractive old-timer from this famous locale.
