Titanite (flattened twins) on matrix

Ankarafa is arguably the most famous Titanite locality in Madagascar. The classic, highly compressed twins with their glowing green color and good gemminess are iconic. This is a rarely seen matrix specimen from Ankarafa featuring sharp, well-formed, very thin twinned crystals (twinning on {221}) with good translucency and that fine green hue sitting on cream colored Albite (var: Pericline) and dark forest green Epidote. The main group of Titanites on the front of the piece measures 2.1 cm. The smaller Titanite crystal on the lower left side of the piece is actually WATER CLEAR in areas! Very little damage, and the piece is not only aesthetic but displays well as you can see from the photos. Priced at $950.
