Item Description

A beautiful faceted Titanite gem from Pakistan. This stone has a lovely golden hue with an "Emerald Brilliant" cut and some visible inclusions. There are not too many places in the world that produce gem quality Titanite, and these stones from Pakistan are hard to find on the market, as most of the good rough was mined over 10 years ago. Sometimes this species is referred to as "Sphene" but it is an archaic term although both are generally accepted in the gem and mineral world. It seems to me that more often it is referred to as "Sphene" in the gem world and Titanite is used for crystallized specimens. One of the great aspects of faceted Titanite is the incredibly high dispersion of the material, and this stone shows some brilliant red/orange/green flashes when you view it in sunlight.
