Item Description

The Alpine-type clefts of the Gamsberg area are better known for rutile and quartz, have also produced some very fine titanites, such as this excellent example. Parts of the impressive multiply-twinned crystal are beautiful, very glassy, classic gemmy, rich green like specimens from Brazil or Pakistan. One "arm" is richly included with chlorite and the attached contrasting cleavelandite blades are a super accent (modest SW UV red fluoresence!). Complete all-around. The upper chlorite-included termination is pristine. Part of the edge of the gemmy "arm" is contacted/bruised, with the base of the crystal being cleaved. This remains a very fine and uncommon titanite example from this very obscure farm in the area. Ex Shields Flynn Collection. value d$2000 or more if from the Alps, and so what is a Namibian comparable worth?
