Topaz on Smoky Quartz (ex Shields Flynn Collection)

What a wonderful miniature. The Topaz specimens from Klein Spitzkopje are iconic for their superior quality, form and gemminess. This piece hosts a very sharp, highly lustrous, GEM quality, virtually colorless prismatic crystal of Topaz measuring 1.6 com long flaring off of the side of a well-formed Smoky Quartz crystal. The Topaz is textbook with a pristine termination and glistening faces on all sides. The only imperfection is a spot where the Topaz meets the Smoky Quartz, which appears to be a "cast" left from a previous mineral, as it's not damage, and it seems to have somewhat of a radial / "burst" shape to it. Very aesthetic, good quality and it displays wonderfully as you can see from the photos. Priced at $1,800. From the Collection of Shields Flynn.
