Item Description
A beautiful rich ice-blue, sculptural, heavily etched and contacted gem topaz crystal from the famous Xanda Mine at Virgem da Lapa. Two major faces are water-clear and are unetched/contacted. It shows complex etching (or rather, not technically etching but solution effects after formation that look like etching but are not). One termination face has a lepidolite coating (typical of the find and this famous pocket from 1969 - referenced in Peter Bancroft's legendary book, GEM AND CRYSTAL TREASURES).. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, the crystal is actually doubly-terminated. It's hard to see a couple of bruised spots on the piece, and it is nearly complete. Classic old-time Xanda topaz THE famous find here. 63 grams mass. MUCH better in person! valued $1000
