Topaz from Dassu is common enough that anybody can own one, but a GREAT one, truly great in this size range, is still a thing of rarity. This fine small cabinet specimen from old finds, characteristic of a style found 20 years and more ago, is one of the finer examples in the size range that we have seen. You can get bigger, of course. But this is so fine, so perfect, so balanced, it is a special specimen for what it is - which is why it has long resided in one of the world's prominent collection of gem crystals and related species. The crystal dominates the focal point atop and is 4 cm across, 4 cm wide, and just over 3 cm deep. The topaz is PERFECT, no dings or damage, and essentially water clear. It is so clear, that you can look through it to see the underlying cleavelandite blades! The crystal is 360 degrees around, and complete. A perfectly balanced and crystallized matrix completes the specimen, and all of this is 360 degrees and complete, not only the topaz itself. It has the kind of fine, machined, exquisite 'look' to it that only the finest and most iconic minerals have, and for this size range it would be hard to get a better one.
