Item Description

Bright green, lustrous, platy torbernite crystals, to 6 mm, are richly and attractively clustered on two sides of the hefty blocky hematite matrix on this showy old-timer from the extinct working of this uranium and copper mining area. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 6033 and acquired at the 1969 MSSC Show from the Lidstrom's. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Mineral specimens are rare and seldom on the market from this particular working. A must for the radioactives or Australian collector. The piece displays well without aid.
