Item Description

Mozambique in recent years has become one of the leading producers of gem quality Tourmalines, found in wide range of colors. A good number of the stones coming out are actually copper-bearing, and it's not just limited to the green, blue and purple stones, as analysis has shown even the pink gems have minor copper content. This particular stone has not been analyzed, and it requires electron-microprobe analysis to determine if it actually has copper content, but it's certainly possibly that this one has a minor amount. With that said, the stone itself is a gorgeous "Cushion" cut gem with a glowing saturated pink hue, and virtually eye-clean clarity, which is important for a Tourmaline, because they are classified as Type-3 gemstones, which means that inclusions are almost always present, and accepted by collectors and dealers, so to find a "clean" stone like is significant, and increases the value. The stone was cut from a piece of rough found in 2015. Valued $1,362.00 retail.
