Item Description

A very attractive and classic pair of gemmy Tourmaline crystals from San Diego County, California (possibly the Himalaya Mine?). These crystals are mostly green in color, but shows a pink hue near the termination, and the other shows a darker green color towards its termination. Lustrous, gemmy, and crystallized all the way around for both specimens. These crystals come from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The pieces come mounted in a "Perky" box from Wulff that states the specimens were personally collected by the legendary field collector, Edwin Over, who was also one of the founding members of the CSMS with men like Wulff, Lazard Cahn and George White. A wonderfully historic and eye-catching set from this well known material from around 70 years ago.
