Item Description

The famous Himalaya Mine in San Diego County, California has produced some of the most well-known Tourmaline specimens in the world. They are beloved for their vivid pink and green hues. If you collect San Diego County Tourmalines, or even worldwide Tourmalines, or just interesting minerals from the United States, this is a great gem to add to a crystal for a "rough and cut" set, or simply to add to your collection, or even set into jewelry. The stone has a "Round Cabochon" cut with a vivid pink hue, and a only very slight inclusions. Please note that Tourmaline is classified as a Type-3 gemstone, which means that inclusions (even small ones) are typically present, and this is par for the course for these gems, so you almost never find a completely CLEAN Tourmaline in this size. With that said, you rarely see good gem quality Tourmalines on the market from this historic mine, let alone a 5+ carat stone with such beautiful color, so don't miss out on picking up this wonderful and alluring gem for a great price. For reference, the stone is priced at $1,320.00 retail. PLEASE NOTE: The color is a bit stronger / more intense in the photo & video than it appears in person. This stone was cut by Brett Kosnar of Kosnar Gem Co., who is a 4-time AGTA Spectrum Award winning gem cutter.
